Krav Maga (Hebrew: contact fighting) is an easy-to-learn, purpose-oriented self-defense system. It was originally developed for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), then later refined for civilian use. Today, the system (IMI System) still aims to teach self-defense skills to people of all ages and genders. Krav Maga relies on simple principles and intuitive movements that can be called upon and used under pressure, even in stressful situations.

Techniques

The number of techniques in Krav Maga is therefore deliberately kept low. The techniques are based on simple and natural reflexes and are therefore easy to remember even with little training.

Training

In Krav Maga, special emphasis is placed on training under strong physical exertion – simulating the stress of an assault – as well as training in posed scenarios.

Rules

There are no rules in street combat, but we treat our training partners with respect.

Our facilities

The training is held in consultation with you either in our studio on Regent Street in Sea Point or outdoors. We do this in order to be able to train or practice Krav Maga under realistic circumstances - i.e. poor lighting conditions and/or bad ground as well as weather conditions.

No. You do not need any previous experience in other martial arts to start Krav Maga training at KRAV MAGA AFRICA in Sea Point, Cape Town. Your physical constitution, gender or age does not matter. Because: Krav Maga is a very modern and easy to learn self-defense system based on natural reflexes. We strengthen your will and fighting spirit, we promote your physical condition, your athleticism, your body awareness and your ability to recognize and control dangerous situations in time. The KRAV MAGA AFRICA training concept puts you in a position to effectively defend yourself and others against physical attacks as quickly as possible.
Krav Maga was developed to minimize dependence on physical conditions. Krav Maga specifically targets areas of the body that are sensitive in everyone. Coupled with the mental attitude that can be trained, Krav Maga is an effective self-defense even against stronger people.
All elements trained in Krav Maga are aimed at increasing personal safety. With Krav Maga, you can assert yourself in many situations early on because of the simple system structure. However, the longer one trains, the higher the chances are to assert oneself in a wide variety of dynamic conflict situations. Regular training increases stress resistance, builds technical skills and improves personal fitness.
